This included launching its largest, greenest, most energy efficient store, carrying out UK wide beach cleans and rolling out a major clothes recycling initiative over a period of five years.
We handled event management and communications for three of M&S’ major Plan A initiatives starting with the launch of its largest, greenest, most energy efficient store in Cheshire Oaks. This launch addressed sustainability on several fronts at once: water, carbon, waste and biodiversity, along with community, materials, travel and access. We secured a host of national and regional media, including broadcast, to witness this UK first.
We also led on the nationwide rollout of the brand’s Big Beach Clean-up in partnership with the Marine Conservation Society (MCS). This consisted of 95 community events taking place on beaches throughout the UK involving local schools, groups and charities collecting litter for a collective cause.
Alongside of this, we also used our tigerbond network to unveil and roll out M&S’ innovative ‘Shwopping’ initiative, fronted by British icon Joanna Lumley and encouraging customers to bring in their old clothes to store to be resold, reused or recycled – this is so successful it still remains a key element of the Plan A promise 13 years since launch.
