Specsavers Dumfries Audiology has raised £212 for charity Hearing Dogs through in-store competitions, which offered customers the chance to win a host of prizes from making a small donation.
The store, which is locally owned and located in The Loreburne Shopping Centre, hosted competitions over several weekends, giving customers the opportunity to win prizes donated by staff members and other businesses in the local area.
The three-figure sum has been donated to Hearing Dogs, a charity which is transforming the lives of people in Scotland who are deaf or have hearing loss through trained hearing dogs, providing practical and emotional services.
A representative from the charity, Catherine Crawford, as well as local resident Jane, who is assisted by the charity, and her hearing dog, Sooty, visited the store to meet staff, and talk about the work provided by Hearing Dogs.
They also gave insight into how being a puppy fosterer works.
Catherine says: ‘It’s absolutely fantastic that Specsavers in Dumfries has raised funds for Hearing Dogs. This charity has been a lifeline for so many people, including Jane, so I’d like to personally thank everyone for getting involved.’
Lucy Danes, store director at Specsavers Dumfries Audiology, added: ‘We are thrilled to have been able to raise funds for a fantastic cause, which our team are hugely passionate about supporting.
‘We’d like to thank all of our customers for taking part in the festivities, and I’d like to extend that thanks to Catherine and Jane for taking the time to visit us; the team and I enjoyed meeting them both, and Sooty of course!’
There are also other volunteer roles such as Fundraisers and Collection Box Coordinators across Dumfries and Galloway for those who would like to get involved but have less time available. Whether you’re raising puppies or raising funds, you’d be making a life-changing difference.
