Specsavers home visits eye service in Glasgow has introduced nine new cars to its fleet which will now allow the team to accommodate up to approximately 400 more customers every week, bringing vital primary care into people’s homes.
Each of the home visits cars are equipped with equipment with a mobile fitting case and testing kit which facilitates a full and comprehensive eye health check as well as all the necessary tools for prescribing glasses. Cars also have holding frame cases for both male and female customers, with up to 90 pairs of frames that are available for trying on during each visit.
This expansion coincides with a significant shift in how the business delivers clinical excellence, moving hospital-grade care directly into living rooms of those unable to visit a store. Lucy McGee, optometrist director at Specsavers Glasgow Home Visits, says: ‘The introduction of these updated branded cars to the busy roads of Glasgow drives local visibility, as previously, people weren’t aware our service and what was available to them in their own home area.
‘Working in domiciliary is such a more personal experience. Being able to help someone who is housebound return to their hobbies through a simple pair of glasses is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.’
With more cars, the team can run more clinics, and in turn reduce wait times. The new cars are also fully branded so easily recognisable on the road. And while visiting those at home, having the branded cars provides reassurance in the service, especially to elderly customers who are understandably reserved when welcoming a new face into their home.
