Recently, Team Glasgow's Karen and Joanna attended the launch of the Scottish Book Trust and Specsavers 50-word story competition. Entrants are invited to write a story inspired by the Optomonsters - a set of (friendly!) monsters created by Specsavers to lessen anxiety around eye tests for children.
Bestselling Scottish author Abi Elphinstone, known for her works including the acclaimed Ember Spark series, led a workshop with pupils from Letham Mains Primary School in Haddington, sharing storytelling tips and helping bring the Specsavers characters to life. The competition launches next month – although sadly, you need to be under 11 to enter!
We definitely wouldn't be frightened to find an Optomonster in the wardrobe!
