Byres Road opticians swapped eye tests for icing bags as they held a fundraising drive for Red Nose Day.
Located in the heart of Glasgow’s west end, the Specsavers Byres Road store transformed into a community hub of charity activity to celebrate and raise funds. Staff members spent the week baking a variety of homemade cakes and treats to sell to customers and passers-by, with every penny raised going directly towards Comic Relief.
In addition to the bake sale, the store offered one lucky local the chance to win a free pair of designer glasses. Raffle tickets were on sale at the front desk, providing an affordable way for the community to support the national charity while potentially walking away with a brand-new look.
Claire McFadyen, optometrist director at Specsavers Byres Road, says: ‘Red Nose Day is a highlight in our calendar, and the team really outdid themselves in the kitchen this year. Whether it’s through a cake or raffle ticket, the generosity of our west end customers never fails to amaze us. We’re proud to play our part in helping Comic Relief tackle poverty and provide safety for those who need it most.’
The store successfully raised a total of £130. The fundraising efforts are part of a wider commitment by the store to support national health and wellbeing initiatives.
