The audiology team at Specsavers Glasgow Fort has hailed their recent community outreach event at Rutherglen Bowling Club, a resounding success after identifying hearing concerns.

The event, designed to provide accessible ear health education in a relaxed environment, welcomed members of the public to their local bowling for a free hearing check.

The clinical team was kept busy throughout the day, completing 12 hearing screenings and six ear wax removals.

The impact of the session was immediate, with fifty percent of those screened, purchasing hearing device trials to help rediscover their range of sound.

Beyond the clinical services, the event featured live singer Lucy Bonner, which proved to be a highlight for attendees. Guests noted that the blend of health services and entertainment was unexpected and enjoyable, offering a refreshing alternative to traditional clinic-based appointments.

Robyn Mitchell, audiology director says: ‘We wanted to break down the barriers often associated with hearing health by bringing our experts directly into the heart of Rutherglen. The feedback was fantastic - people really appreciated the informal setting and the chance to enjoy some music while taking care of their wellbeing.’

The event led to follow up care, with four attendees already booked in for comprehensive hearing tests at the Glasgow Fort store and several others expected to follow suite in the coming days.
