Wick is set to sparkle a little brighter this festive season thanks to a generous donation from an opticians in the town.
Specsavers, located on Bridge Street, passed over a cheque for £1,000 to the Wick Christmas Lights Committee, who are responsible for the installation and upkeep of the town’s festive light fixtures.
Leslie Grant, treasurer of Wick Christmas Lights Committee, says: ‘This support means a great deal to us, as maintaining the lights each year takes more work and funding than most people realise.
‘Every contribution helps us keep the displays looking their best and creates something the whole town can enjoy.
‘We are very grateful to Specsavers for helping us bring a bit more warmth and colour to Wick this winter.’
Philip Overton, optical assistant who made the donation on behalf of Specsavers Wick, adds: ‘We wanted to do something that would make a visible difference for local families and visitors during the festive period.
‘The committee works incredibly hard behind the scenes, so we’re pleased to support their efforts and help keep the tradition going.
‘It is rewarding to know the donation will play a part in brightening up the town over the festive period.’
Specsavers Wick is located on Bridge Street and is open from 8:30am – 5:30pm every Friday – Wednesday and 9:30 – 5:30pm every Thursday.
