Award-winning Scottish hospitality operator, Buzzworks, has announced the appointment of David Bell as its new Director of Food, reinforcing the company’s commitment to food excellence, innovation and chef development across its portfolio of venues.
Originally from Edinburgh, Bell brings with him more than 20 years of experience in high-level culinary leadership and food development roles across the UK.
Most recently, he completed the prestigious ‘Forward with Marcus Wareing’ programme, all while managing multiple large-scale venues and spearheading chef innovation projects nationwide.
His appointment signals Buzzworks’ ambition to build on its reputation for exceptional dining by investing further in chef skills, culinary creativity and sustainable food practices.
Central to this will be the development of a scalable new menu system, designed to blend Buzzworks’ signature classics with brand and site-specific flair, ensuring consistency, excitement and innovation for guests.
David Bell, Director of Food at Buzzworks, said: “The opportunity to help shape the future of food across a dynamic and expanding group like Buzzworks was too exciting to pass up.
“My vision is flavour-forward, guest-led, sustainable food that not only delivers operationally but also emotionally, with bold seasonal dishes crafted with flair and function, alongside the classics people know and love.
“Seasonality drives both flavour and financial sense, so we’ll be aligning our menus with the best of what’s available, working closely with local suppliers and reducing waste wherever possible.
“Sustainability is no longer an add-on. It’s a smart, necessary lens for everything we create, especially as a B-Corp accredited organisation.
“Equally important is our people. We’re refining the Buzzworks Chef Academy into a world-class training pipeline, with clear pathways from apprentices to head chefs.
“By investing in skills, leadership and culture, we’ll continue to create kitchens that chefs rave about and guests can taste the difference in every dish.”
Kenny Blair, Managing Director of Buzzworks, added: “David brings a rare combination of technical expertise, creative flair and passion for people development.
“His track record in leading culinary innovation will help us elevate our food offering across the board, from guest experiences to chef careers.
“We’re excited to see his impact as we continue to grow Buzzworks as one of Scotland’s leading hospitality groups.”
