Former managers, players, officials and fans of Parkfield Youth Football Club were joined by enthusiastic opticians for special celebrations at the John Rumney Playing Fields.
Established in 1945, Parkfield Youth Football Club is a highly respected football club based in Hatch End, Harrow, that offers an academy and trains a range of squads aged five to 16.
To honour the 80-year anniversary, a veteran team kicked off the celebrations with an exhibition match which was followed by a medal presentation and speeches by the Club’s Chairman, Ali Jobe, who also welcomed the Mayor of Harrow, Councillor Anjana Patel, to the celebrations.
As sponsors of the U12 home and away kit this season, store directors Adam Shackle and Tejal Sheth from Specsavers Harrow, Harrow Weald and Pinner supported the event with a stand manned by members of the team who chatted to visitors about all thing’s eyes and ears, offering tips on how to ensure your eyesight is in tip top condition for any football match.
Retail director Adam, himself a passionate football supporter, said: ‘It’s an honour to be part of these momentous celebrations. The club has established a presence in the Harrow Youth League over the years.
‘It’s a real accolade to the teams, officials, support staff and coaches to have maintained such a high standard of football.
‘We’re delighted to support the raffle with our donation of a pair of glasses to the value of £130 and a free sight test – valid at both our Harrow and Harrow Weald stores. All the funds raised will be going towards supporting the club and its facilities.’
After the formal speeches and presentations were over, guests and visitors joined in the party atmosphere.
