A popular Nairn hotel with panoramic views of the shoreline towards the Moray Firth has launched a brand-new alternative to the traditional afternoon tea – Afternoon Cheese.

Golf View Hotel & Spa, part of the Crerar Hotels Collection, has expanded its menu with its new Afternoon Cheese offering as a real treat for the tastebuds whilst partnering with a much-loved local dairy, Connage Highland Dairy.

The twist on the classic afternoon tea celebrates artisan cheese from the award-winning, family-owned Connage Highland Dairy whilst combining hot and cold savoury bites such as chicken and Connage clava brie open roll and a Connage gouda croque monsieur as well as sweet treats like cheesecake and a classic cheese scone.

For those looking to make the most of the experience, a wine pairing can also be added which can be enjoyed with the savoury sandwiches, tartlets and desserts.

Carolyn Carrington, General Manager at Golf View Hotel & Spa, said: “Afternoon Cheese has been in the making for some time now and will be a real indulgence on the senses. We wanted to create something for cheese lovers who could indulge in their favourite food, paired perfectly with wine if they desire, whilst enjoying a stunning backdrop of the seafront with spectacular views.

“What was even more special was finding a local partner and providing our guests with incredible local produce which is very important to us. We’ve teamed up with Connage Highland Dairy to give guests the opportunity to taste the very best of what Inverness offers.

“Our values very much align with the local dairy as we too believe it’s important to play a key role in the local highland community showcasing what the area has to offer. We’re looking forward to hearing from local cheese connoisseurs and getting their reviews.”

Jill Clark, co-owner of Connage Highland Dairy, said: “Our cows graze the clover rich grass along the shores of the Moray Firth, making our organic cheeses creamy and delicious. It therefore seems fitting that they can be enjoyed by hotel guests so close to the dairy.

“We grow our own feed, operate an organic system which puts animal welfare at the top of the agenda, employ local people and work closely with the local community. For that reason, partnerships with others who share our ethos are very important to our family business and we are really excited about this new venture.”

The brand-new offering is available from September onwards and is priced at £34 per person, available daily from 12.30 to 4pm.
