Thainstone House, an 18th-century grand manor style hotel located in Inverurie, prides itself on its haunting history, with numerous sights of one former resident, ‘The Green Lady’, who is rumoured to call Thainstone House home.

The 48-bedroom hotel is thought to be permanently inhabited by the daughter of the former owner of the historic house, who apparently primarily resides in room 406.

The chilling tale begins when a young girl was involved in a horse-riding accident, where it is thought she was crushed by the animal. She was quickly carried to a bedroom within the house; however, she later died from her injuries – the bedroom is now known as hotel room number 406 – and guests can request this room at Halloween if they dare.

Thainstone House, which is part of the Crerar Hotels Collection, refers to her as ‘The Green Lady’, as she wears a green riding cloak and has been spotted by multiple guests, including professional ghost hunter and TV spiritualist Derek Acorah, who said she had appeared to him. While he described her as a "beautiful young lady", he claimed she was too shy to speak.

Other various incidents include guests reporting that their pets are reluctant to enter room 406, inanimate objects have been seen moving on their own, and unexplained noises have also been heard.

The thought of seeing a ghost may be scary to some, but Thainstone is happy for the ‘friendly’ spirit to call their hotel home.

The Green Lady has even been honoured at the hotel by having its signature restaurant named after her – and this Halloween night, guests can take advantage of a special, spooky offer.

Priced at £40 per person, tickets include a delicious two-course meal served in the Green Lady Restaurant, followed by an evening with clairvoyant and psychic medium Annie Moon to get the chance to feel what energies lie beyond as the veil thins.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at: https://www.crerarhotels.com/collection/thainstone-house/experiences/whats-on/.
